After living and working in the heart of Houston for more than 20 years, and with the emergence of Arts District Houston, we recognized a growing need for exhibition opportunities outside the traditional gallery model. Gallery representation is not always accessible for artists, and shows & exhibitions may not provide adequate sales. While online sales can be valuable, nothing replaces the personal connection created when people experience artwork in person.

To help fill that gap, we began transforming a historic home in Houston’s historic Old Sixth Ward, located within Arts District Houston, to create a welcoming gallery style space where artists, creatives, and pop-up retail entrepreneurs can produce their own shows, exhibit their work, host short-term events and connect directly with visitors and collectors.

We hosted our first exhibition at Decatur Street Studio in October 2022, and it was a tremendous success. Since then, we have welcomed numerous art exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, and other creative events. The space is especially well suited for visiting artists, offering more than 375 square feet of dedicated exhibition space, along with a private master bedroom with a queen bed and a fully equipped kitchen.

My own studio is located behind the gallery. It is a fully equipped woodworking shop where I create wood sculptures and wall art inspired by the natural character and beauty of wood. To learn more about my work, visit www.BobCardArt.com.
